About the Bernedoodle
Clever, goofy, gentle and loyal pretty much describes the Bernedoodle. Bernedoodle fans boast that this mixed breed truly has the best of both worlds from its Bernese mountain dog and poodle parents. They are not bred to bring home ribbons in dog shows, but are instead meant to be perfect, loving companions for active owners and families with children. Because of this, they tend to be smart and super easy to train.
Most of our puppies are F1b’s, which is 75% poodle and 25% Bernese Mountain dog. They have a mix of soft wavy fleece coats to more dense curly coats. The F1b’s will also be the most non-shedding and hypoallergenic. The curlier the hair the more hyper-allergenic they will be.
The Bernedoodle coat allows it to be cool in summer (especially if out in the direct sunlight) and protected against cold in the winter. They prefer cooler weather over hot weather and are well suited for people who spend lots of time outdoors, hike, and have an overall active lifestyle. They are very good swimmers, just like the poodle. They enjoy running and also lots of other stimulating games and they crave lots of human attention.
Bernedoodles are quite trainable, as they are clever. They can also be mischievous and stubborn, more so when they are a puppy. They will grow out of that eventually. Training should always be performed in a gentle manner with positive reinforcements for better results.
